WebDeep plantar warts (verrucae plantaris), also called myrmecia (from the Greek, meaning “ant hill”), affect mostly adolescents and young adults. The lesions characteristically look like raised bundles of soft keratotic fibers 2 mm to 1 cm in diameter; shaving reveals punctate, bleeding blood vessels.
